Highland Shepherd Huts are based in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, a unique and special place. There's something for everyone with a treasure trove of outdoor activities to exploring nature and wildlife.

 

 The Park is a playground for outdoor people with all sorts of sporting activities on offer, on the mountain, on the river, on the golf course or on your bike. There are outdoor activities for all levels of experience, just choose what suits you.

From the comfort of the deck outside your hut you can spot a number of Scottish native animals - there are many squirrels, pine-marten, a resident pheasant and hare, the occasional osprey from the nearby Loch Garten, deer and many smaller birds such as crested tits. 

Nethy Bridge is the nearest village, known as the 'Forest Village' for it's numerous walks and RSPB Abernethy Reserve. There is a well stocked village store, post office, butcher, Nethy House Cafe, 9 hole golf course, 2 hotels and tennis courts. 

HIKING & BIKING 

Home to some of the best routes in Scotland. Ideal for any adventurer. The Speyside Way is situated just behind the Shepherd huts.

Venture up to the hills and climb to the Cairngorm Summit.

SKI-ING

We are placed bang in the middle of the Cairngorm Mountain and The Lecht ski areas. Both are only 30 minutes from us. Vast play grounds for snow sports. The Cairngorm is a larger

PONY TREKKING

This can be done at the nearby Rothiemurchus Estate or Alvie Stables. Varied river and hill rides.

FISHING

There are a number of rivers and lochs within the valley which offer excellent fishing. 

WATERSPORTS

Loch Morlich and Loch Insh are the perfect location for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and paddle boarding. 

GOLF

There is the Abernethy Golf Club (9 hole) in Nethy Bridge, a fantastic 18 hole golf course at Boat of Garten and many others throughout the valley.
